Get access
These steps will help walk you through the first few steps of getting access to for Salesforce Marketing Cloud and CRM (Service Cloud).
Important! If you already have access to Marketing Cloud or CRM, there is no need to request access again.
First, you’ll need to either create a business unit or be added to an existing business unit. A business unit is your department’s workspace within Marketing Cloud and CRM that houses your emails, templates, subscribers, and analytics.
If you’re not sure if your department has a business unit already, contact your department’s or campus’s marketing team or email crmhelp@iu.edu.
What to do if you need a new business unit:
- Submit your business unit request
- For the “Adoption Types” question, if you work in:
- Communication/marketing, select the Communications Only User option and then Enrolled Student (if applicable,) and Organization Relationships.
- For student recruitment, select one of the recruitment options.
- Human Resources, select the HR Employee Services option.
- If you’re not sure, reach out to crmhelp@iu.edu
- Follow instructions you’ll receive from a CRM Initiative representative.
- Complete any required training.
What to do if you need access to an existing business unit:
- Submit an access request form using your business unit Marketing Cloud ID (MID) name or number. If you don’t know your MID, contact another business unit user in your department.
- Complete any required training.
- Follow instructions you’ll receive from a CRM Initiative representative.

Who manages Salesforce access?
Access to Salesforce is managed by IU’s Salesforce administration team within UITS, the IU CRM Initiative. This is separate from the CX Marketing Team within University Communications and Marketing.
