Navigating Marketing Cloud

Here’s how to getting started with some common Marketing Cloud activities including logging in, switching business units, finding basic email features, and more! We recommend you use Chrome or Firefox for the best experience.

Log in to Marketing Cloud

1. Log in to One.IU.edu with your IU credentials.
2. Search for Salesforce and locate Marketing Cloud. Tip: Click the heart icon to allow Marketing Cloud to automatically display on One.iu.edu for future logins.
3. Click on “Marketing Cloud.”

Customize your Login page

The first page you see after logging in can be customized for easy navigation later:

1. Hover over your name in the top right corner.
2. Click Cloud Preferences. 

3. Click the Login Preferences tab near the top.
4. Select your default option. “Email” or “Marketing Cloud Dashboard” are recommended
5. Click Save.

Business unit access

If you have access to multiple business units, you can find and switch between business units easily:

1. Find your business unit in the upper right corner. Hover over the unit name to reveal the drop-down menu. Select the business unit you need and find the unit’s MID here.
2. Favorite a business unit by clicking the star next to the name.
3. Access favorite business units by clicking the black star icon under your current business unit name.

Marketing Cloud Email Studio

Email Studio is the most commonly used Marketing Cloud tool at Indiana University.

1. Navigate to Email Studio by hovering over the  at the top left.
2. Choose Email Studio and click on “Email” from the drop-down.

Important panels within Email Studio

Within Email Studio, click on tabs in the top navigation to access these important features:

1. Overview shows your most recent activity for quick access to the last emails you worked on, basic analytics on recent email sends, and scheduled emails yet to be sent.
2. Content features Content Builder where you can build, edit, delete, and send emails.
3. Subscribers houses constituent contact information, including Data Extensions, Publication Lists, and Subscriber Lists.
4. Tracking displays basic analytics and sending logs for your email sends. Note: Find additional analytics and create automated reports in the Analytics Builder (outside Email Studio) in Marketing Cloud.
5. Admin offers basic configuration settings, including Send Classifications.
6. Return Path Platform previews your email on multiple devices and emails clients for quality control checks.

Remember, you can always navigate back to Email Studio or other Marketing Cloud apps by hovering over  at the top left.

Sandbox

The sandbox environment for Marketing Cloud is for testing. If you don't have access to it and need access, request it via the user access request form.
